We pursue sustainable and organic viticulture and do not use synthetic chemical products. We protect
biodiversity and preserve our vineyards’ ecosystem as well as the surrounding areas. We protect
and preserve our grapes’ character to make wines that are unique.
How do we make this? Our vineyards are planted in three different areas of Montepulciano, each
with its own, unmistakable style.
Ascianello - Montepulciano
Very high, ventilated area and particularly suited to the production of Sangiovese. Here is the heart of our Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the single vineyard of SorAldo selection.
The soil, originating in the Pliocene period, is sandy clay. It has very limited yields, loose bunches and late ripening. The skeleton with the presence of fossil shells gives depth and minerality to the wines produced here.
Fontecornino - Montepulciano
High, very cold and well-ventilated area.
Here, the soil is mostly made up of silty clay with plenty of skeleton grain (stoney), which results in highly aromatic grapes with well-balanced acidity levels and fine-textured tannins.
Due to the characteristics of the soil and low temperatures in the summer, this area is particularly suited to the production of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
Fontago - Montepulciano
Warm, ventilated area that allows for an early ripening of the grapes. These vineyards are located 300 meters above sea level, the soil is sandy, which gives our grapes an unique freshness, distinct aroma and a vibrant acidity. These wines are enjoyable and easy to drink. This is the heart of our Rosso di Montepulciano.
Harvest
Nature is our best ally, which is why it must be respected and accompanied during the phases of growth of the vine and interpreted once the grapes have been harvested.
We harvest the grapes manually in boxes and carefully select the best bunches that will make the De’Ricci wines.
